Free Download: Bring On the Dancing Horses - This 4-Trk Recording, from 1997,
is a cover of the Echo & the Bunnyman classic, featured on the Pretty in Pink soundtrack
from the mid 1980's. I just found my old cassettes and have been combing through them looking for interesting mixes, etc. I hope you enjoy the lo-fi sound / decent-quality performance.

Hello and welcome to the new website. I am José Ayerve; musician, songwriter, recording engineer, and producer.

News:

[06/16/08] • What's New? A: I'm in the process of lull. I'm doing some recording and production work with Kristen Gass later this week. I recorded her previous release, Band of Silohuettes, and I'm excited to begin working on her new songs. Also, the Haunt record, The Deep North, just got mastered and it sounds awesome. I'm really excited about it. I did a quick tracking session with Marykate O'Neil and Ken Maiuri. And I'm about to approve the final master of the new album (see below). So, though I haven't been playing many shows, I've been lucky enough to keep busy doing some of the behind-the-scenes stuff. Also, I had the opportunity to perform some shows with Katie Sawicki in May. Much fun! Been playing a lot of tennis lately. Learning how to win, which feels a little odd, but I guess it means that I'm doing better. Oh ya, almost forgot, I officiated the wedding of Philip Price and Flora Reed of the Winterpills. That was a terrific time. Unfortunately, my really nice light-wool Colombian suit took a beating, mostly due to the weather. Oh well. No use crying over ripped hems and grass stains, right?

[05/14/08] • Recording/Release update... Okay, Okay, finally, things are falling into place for the upcoming release: José Ayerve - The Nuclear Waste Management Club - I've been teasing everyone with this release for far too many years now. Well, it's finally getting close and the photos have been taken, and the artwork has been finalized. Stay tuned for an announcement about the CD release show and the official release date, plus ordering details, etc.... Here's a preview of one of the band photos taken by Henning Ohlenbusch.

[03/19/08] • New Sandra Black EP! • Spouse is about to embark on a mini-tour. Tomorrow night we play in Pittsburgh, PA at the Lava Lounge with Derek White & the Monophobics and The Meeting of Important People. It'll be a great show. Friday, we return to our home away from home, Morgantown, WV, opening for our good friends, SANDRA BLACK. They'll be celebrating the release of their new CD/EP which I recorded in November. It's going to be an evening to remember! On Saturday, we play the Manhattan Room in Philadelphia. It's been 10 years since Spouse set foot in Philly. We're very excited for the show. We'll be sharing the stage with the Bye Byes, Aderbat, and the Major Leagues. And the best part about this upcoming mini-tour is that thanks to the bands we're playing with (who are lending us some of their gear, Spouse trio (Kevin, JJ, & José) will be able to travel in a much more fuel-efficient vehicle. We estimate that we'll be reducing our fuel consumption by about 40% compared to our regular 'Spouse-Mobile' [Jeep]. We hope to see you all very soon.

[03/10/08] • Thank you to everyone who came out to see me at one of my recent solo or Spouse shows. Incidentally, one of the records that I sang on recently, just became available online. The Many Moods of The National Convention is the brainchild of Eric Poulin, who wrote the songs for this album and had a number of Western Massachusetts-based musicians join him for the recording. I sing the track titled, The Park and the Mountain. Here's a link to where you can sample and purchase the album...

[02/14/08] • Winterpills • The song “Hide Me” from 2007's The Light Divides will be featured in the ABC show “Eli Stone” on Thursday, Feb. 14th (yeah Valentines day) at 10 p.m. You can watch it online too...

[02/08/08] • Dobbyn Foundation • In the fall of 2007, I created and recorded a piece of music for a promotional campaign about the Dobbyn Foundation, an organization whose main objective is to raise and distribute money enabling children to achieve a secondary education in East Africa. The promotional video is complete and available for you all to view and hear. [see the video...]
